I recall Rudyard Kipling's famous poem Mandalay,
which tells of a former British soldier dreaming
of his faraway mistress.
"Bye the old Moulmein Pagoda, lookin' eastward to
the sea. There's a Burma girl a-settin' and I know
she thinks of me" . As the lines of the poem flood
back into my memory.
